mid summer

It has been foggy in the mornings and lovely and warm in the afternoons. Typical Bay Area summer weather. With less than a month before I go back to dreaded work, I have been trying to bank sleep, freeze breast milk, and mostly enjoy my time with Ansel. He really is a morning person. He is so happy and alert and playful. However, come 7 pm every night a different kid shows up for what we call "fussy hour." Although he sleeps most of the day, by 7pm he is so tired that he gets grumpy trying to fall asleep and fights it.
My friend Allison gave me a baby shower in April and had each person decorate a leaf for a tree of life quilt. Here is a picture of the final product. We are going to hang it so Ansel can see all the people who love him and were awaiting his arrival. I think it is beautiful.
I went for my first post pregnancy run. The last time I ran I was 6 weeks pregnant. After that I felt too nauseous and tired. The run went well. I only had to stop once and I ran about 2 -2.5 miles. My lungs hurt briefly and my legs felt like jello the rest of the night. Now, of course, the real discomfort sets in. It hurts to bend my legs to sit down or stand up and walk. It just means I need to run more often now that I got over the initial go.
