Yes, it has been over a week since my last blog. I was holding out for videos but it is taking longer than I thought to get them up. Also, last week was a little stressful for me. Ansel had a post vaccination low fever all week, we were too social, and I have to go back to work in two weeks and am not looking forward to it. I am lucky that my parents are willing to look after Ansel while I work four hours a day.
This has been a wonderful summer with Ansel. The past few weeks we've gotten into a groove. We get up between 8 and 9 (closer to 9). If we have an appointment or mom's group meeting we get ready to go otherwise we play for a while and Ansel falls asleep around 10. One to two times a week we walk over to the bank or grocery store. Everyone we come across oohs an ahhs over him. One day, a woman walking towards me went out of her way to come around my other side to look at him and told me it would cheer her up. I was glad to oblige. He is damn cute. I couldn't blame her.
I love this time with him. He is playing in his gym by himself. When I say playing I mean staring at things. He has discovered mirrors. When I put him in his rear facing car seat there is a mirror with a monkey around it. It is placed so i can see him while I am driving. He often smiles when he first sits down and looks in the mirror (or maybe it is the monkey he sees). There is also a mirror in his gym that he stares at.
Ansel is smiling tons now and when I hold him in a standing position he tries to support his weight with his legs. He holds his own head up a lot of the time but still needs help, especially when he is tired. His arm and hand movements are still very spastic but he does bring them to his face to suck on or rub his eyes. Sometimes he uses too much gusto and whacks himself. It looks like he has a black eye today and my only guess is that he gave it to himself!
I love being able to feed Ansel. It is so satisfying. I love when he chugs the milk, taking a breath or grunting between swallows. Then he pulls off, eyes closed, in a deep milk coma with milk all over his chin. So awesome.

awww, he looks so cute! I love all the pictures, So glad you guys have found your groove. Rowan has a similar morning schedule only now he is awake a full 2 hours usually in the am. Then he naps every 2-4 hours depending on what we do. Keep up the good work - he looks very content.
