Sunshine Days

The weather has been glorious this week. Cool fog in the am/pm and hot midday. I took Ansel to Lake Temescal mid week. We were thrilled to find half the parking lot full of construction machines. Ansel walked along the fence and back excitedly pointing to the trucks and asking to touch them.

I had heard about a park in Hayward (25 minutes south) which has rides and animals. Its hours are limited so as Ansel did not nap today we took the opportunity to go the park instead. Ansel wanted to ride the carousel. There were tiny horses just his size. I soon realized that I don't like carousels anymore. I get dizzy.

Then we rode the train which goes around the park perimeter and through a tunnel (Ansel's favorite thing). Then into the petting zoo. We saw a pig, sheep, bunnies, chickens and many goats. This was my favorite. We bought food for the goats and were immediately bombarded by goats. Ansel did well. He didn't freak out even when a goat nibbled his hat. Once the food was gone the goats chilled and we walked freely around the paddock. The goats would come over to be pet and then go back to their business (almost like a dog). I could have stayed in there for hours.
The park has a large play structure and swings which Ansel loved playing on. It was worth the trip. Ansel seemed to enjoy everything. If the park had a water feature it would have been heavenly perfect!
