Ansel's First Bakcpacking Trip

Jeremy and I took Ansel to our favorite backpacking spot this past weekend. I was a little nervous about backpacking with Ansel. We took him camping last year and he had trouble sleeping in a tent. I was worried about how we'd carry him and all the gear in to the camp site. And I was concerned about having Ansel so close to the lake. Once we arrived all my fears were erased. It is such a beautiful location. Ansel loved it, slept well, stayed safe (although came away filthy and scratched up).
I carried Ansel in my pack with our clothes and couple of small items. Jeremy carried EVERYTHING else. We gave Ansel a little backpack but he immediately took it off and threw it in the dirt.



We enjoyed numerous swims in the lake. It was cold but clear and inviting.


Ansel was well behaved around the fire.


A bright moon came up across the lake from us.


Ansel enjoyed playing with his trucks in the dirt and rocks. He also made use of our toilet shovel. The poor boy has the Montes morning hair issue.


He did a bit of hiking on his own. He would point to the lake and sky and say, "boo" (blue). You can see in the pic how blue the lake looks. We saw chipmunks, fish, butterflies, birds. He got his first mosquito bite. He did a great job eating on his lap. It was a great trip over all.
