When to party?

We decided to take Ansel to a party at Stinson beach yesterday. It is 1 1/2 hours drive to get there. He slept most of the way so we figured he'd be happy and set when we arrived. Our friends had rented a house and the music was blaring when we went in. It set Ansel off right away. There was no where quiet to go. People were everywhere so we stayed outside most of the time. It went downhill from there. I got him to sleep in the sling and then some guy did a giant overly dramatic sneeze which woke Ansel up. I went for a walk and got him back to sleep. At bed time we tried to give him a bath in a sink so he'd have some semblance of home. He hated it. He cried or fussed for the next two hours until we left. People were trying to be helpful and offered to help but all Ansel wanted was to be in a warm, quiet place with his parents. Once we got in the car he fell asleep and had a good night. Jeremy and I were embarrassed because we were those parents who take a baby to an inappropriate place, we were the one with the kid we couldn't control. We want Ansel to be social and be able to go places but maybe he's not ready yet. Maybe we need to be more selective and take him to places that are more baby friendly. The invite said babies and kids welcome and there was a well behaved 2 month old there. Harumph!! I had a horrible time.
Ansel found his toes this morning. I had him supported in a sitting up position. Gravity pulled him down over his foot and into his mouth it went. We played this game a few times. He likes to be tickled. I can't tell if he is ticklish or if he likes the faces and sounds I make when I tickle him. I hear him waking up from his nap. Better go.
