Four Month Check Up
Ansel had his four month well baby check-up today. I brought my mom this time for moral support and am glad I did. There is always something that stresses me out at his appointments. The doctor said he looks great and Ansel giggled for him while the doc was moving his hips around. However, the doc wanted us to get x-rays to check for hip dislocation. At this point you should venture back to the first blog entry and check out his birth picture. His right foot was behind his ear. So this request did not surprise me. Still, it is a little scary to put your baby on a cold hard x-ray table while a giant radiation filled machine zaps him. So Ansel got 4 shots, a thermometer up his toosh, poked and prodded, zapped by an x-ray machine and peed on me twice. The poor thing was exhausted by the time it was over. I was so frazzled myself that I left my purse in the xray room. Luckily it was there when I went back 5 minutes later. Ansel was fussy and tired this evening so he got some Tylenol, a warm bath and lots of cuddles (as always), and he fell right to sleep.

Happy Birthday, Ansel! Please keep us updated on the hip X-Ray. Nicole had an alutrasound for that at around 7 months. Glad they are being cautious. What a trooper though during the appointment and his mom & dad's exploits. Can't wait to see the smiles and hear the giggles in person!
I guess it is better to get the xrays now than later. Athena got xrays when she was just over a year and it was awful. They had to put these weights on her to hold her still. At least a baby won't fight too hard? Glad to hear he looks healthy though, I could kind of tell from the pictures.
