Life as a mother of a two year old

I don't think I have gotten up less than three times while eating a meal with Ansel.

Tonight I asked him if he wanted peas. He nodded yes. I heated up peas and put them in a small custard cup. I put them in front of him and he said, "no." I showed him that he could tilt the cup and eat straight from it. The things I do to get green into him.

He spent a long time saying, "noma noma" this evening. He wasn't always saying it to me. I think it might mean "No, mama." He was playing with the words saying them over and over and mixing it up with "ma no." I call him the no monster.

I have learned a new language. Ansel's words only somewhat resemble English. Sometimes I think he sounds like Boomhauer from King of the Hill.
I cannot have a phone conversation without Ansel needing my full attention and vocally letting me know it.

In the midst of any shopping trip he will find a point to say "finished" and "down." I often forget items that I go to the store for. Things get worse from there.

The other day I found my cell phone in the cracker cabinet. I put it there right before I stopped Ansel from spilling cereal on the floor.

I took him to the park today. We have had three gorgeous days in a row. Not too hot but clear and warm. The park has a stream running through it. I had the forthought to bring his water shoes and change of clothes.

For Father's Day, Jeremy asked for Ansel and I to join him on the beach in SF (on the Saturday) to watch the Ultimate Frisbee pickup game. We went to SF but it was VERY windy so the three of us wandered through Golden Gate Park instead. We saw bison and explored.
