I should be sleeping instead of blogging

Whenever I have Ansel in the front carrier facing forward, he gets so much attention! I cannot walk down the street without being stopped or getting comments. And it is not just little old ladies. Older men want to stop and talk to Ansel, too. Today, a man said in passing, "good luck with your baby." I am sure he meant well but I couldn't help thinking, what did he mean by 'good luck'? Perhaps he has a daughter who has a young baby and he understands what it is like to be a new mom.
Earlier in the week, Ansel and I were walking down the street when a woman in her 60's (I would guess) drifted from her husband's side to walk in front of me, block my path and to question me about my baby (age, etc). All was well until she told me his hands were too cold thereby questioning my judgment as a mom. She seemed to get her baby fix and let us off on our way without calling CPS.
Before I had a baby I don't think I once stopped someone to talk to or about their baby. I made funny faces at a few babies in check out lines, but I was doing the parents a favor by distracting the kid while mom or dad shopped. And I certainly NEVER touched anyone's baby. An adult would not want me to come up to them and grab their hand or stroke their cheek so don't do it to my kid!
Of course I am biased but I think Ansel is so cute that people are drawn to him. He smiles at people a lot, too, when they smile at him. That reels them in. Maybe it is the fact that when I have Ansel in the front carrier his head is just below my chin so he is at eye level (no jokes about my height please). He just hangs out there leading me into the world, arms flapping and legs kicking. People walking past can't miss the little mini-me with the cute smile.
Jeremy and I have jokingly talked about getting Ansel some modeling gigs (mainly to get free Baby Gap clothes) or baby beauty contests. I'm sure he'd win them all.

reminds me of the time that Jamie was holding Bdette in the Bjorn and we were garage saling at a blockwide, and a gramma had her hands on Bdette -trying to tuck them into the carrier b/c whe was worried that she was getting a sunburn (she was sunscreened). Jamie nearly clocked the woman. Don't worry - as they get older, the attention changes. Some people are clueless. I dare you to respond to the next grabber with holding their hands or brushing their face :)

A woman once told kelli and I that we shouldn't have our babies out because they might get a fever and then they would have to get a spinal tap, and on the same walking path a woman told kelli that olivet was crying because the wind "gives them colic". WTF people are crazy sometimes, I hate when people say they are cold when the babies aren't even complaining!
