Amalia at 21 months

I took the kids on a New Years Day hike up at the Inspiration Point trail. Not far along Ansel was ready to go back and Amalia wasn't happy being restrained to the Ergo. So we stopped for a snack. The weather was lovely, although windy. On the way home we stopped at the Tilden trains for a ride.

Our neighbor's kitty was being very friendly until the kids started to come after it. She ran under the car. Amalia is wondering where kitty went.

My two superheroes!

Ansel was invited to a birthday party which included a tour of the firehouse on Shepard Canyon Rd. Ansel was able to spray the fire hose!

Always eager for a photo. Why haven't we signed her up with a modeling agency yet?

Amalia update: In an attempt to prevent second child syndrome I am going to just talk about Amalia and what she is doing these days.
Amalia has a wonderful little personality. She is 21 months and makes funny faces, almost rolling her eyes at me - 21 months going on 13 years!! Heaven help us when the time comes! She does this funny look to the side as if to say, "whatever!." She loves to dance. Any music will get her moving. She will let me kiss boo-boos better (Ansel did and does not let me) and comes to a grown up for comfort. She likes soft stuffed animals. When I pick her up from her crib she'll want her "wuvvy" (lovey) and then look back and ask for her "ki-E" (kitty) and her "wah" (quack=duck). Sometimes she'll grab something else so she can barely hold them all. She loves books and will try to pick up a pile to bring to someone to read to her. She gets frustrated when books slide off the pile and wants help carrying them all. She has lots of words now. Although she doesn't always say the word clearly, we have learned what they all mean: booboo, boo, book, lovey, duck, kitty, Gary, Ansel, Daddy, Mommy, Grandma, Granddad, train, eat, milk, cheese, cracker, cookie, banana, juice, more, prunes, happy, no, mine (these last two are the clearest!), Dora, shoes, dog, fire truck, knee, nose, eye, pee-pee, done, teeth, me, bubbles, up, please.
She got a hold of Jeremy's phone yesterday and had it on camera so she could see on the screen whatever the phone was pointing to. She was giggling away. She thought it was just great.
She can climb onto her booster seat and any chair. Nothing on the dining room or kitchen table is safe anymore!
We sit her on the potty before bath each night and she will stay there intently flipping through a book. Then she'll ask for toilet paper to wipe with.
She still nurses. Ansel gave it up at 18 months. He wasn't showing much interest so I stopped and he was fine with it. He had been sleep trained and was used to falling asleep without nursing. Not Amalia. We never sleep trained her and nursing is her crutch. I am ready to stop. Now I just need to convince her.

The other day Ansel said, "I really like playing with Amalia." We recently moved her crib in to his room. It has been an adjustment period but they are both doing well with it. Ansel calls her Mall-ah or Amal-ee. I call her kitten.

Amalia is always smiling and laughing. We just adore her. I am so glad she has her own personality and that the kids are their own people.
